Terms of Service

Important Notice

By using Campus Vault, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

1 Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Campus Vault (the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not access or use the Service.

2 Account Registration

Some features of the Service may require you to create an account. When registering, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use or security breach

3 User Conduct & Prohibited Activities

You agree to use the Service responsibly and in compliance with all applicable laws. You must not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to violate any laws in your jurisdiction
  • Infringe upon or violate the intellectual property rights of others
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or any harmful content
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's operation or servers

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or is otherwise objectionable, at our sole discretion.

4 Intellectual Property Rights

Campus Vault is an open-source project. The Service's source code and documentation are provided under the MIT License (or as otherwise specified in our repository). However:

  • You retain all rights to content you upload or create using the Service
  • By uploading content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and display your content solely for operating and improving the Service
  • Third-party content and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners
  • Our branding, logos, and proprietary elements are not covered by the open-source license

5 Service Modifications & Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

While we strive for high availability, we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

6 Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Violation of these Terms of Service
  • Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
  • At your request for account deletion

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. All provisions that should reasonably survive termination will continue to apply.

7 Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CAMPUS VAULT DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
  • Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through the Service

8 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Campus Vault and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Service
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
  • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your content

9 Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable where the project maintainers operate, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved through good faith negotiations. If negotiations fail, disputes may be subject to binding arbitration or court jurisdiction as required by applicable law.

10 Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and may notify you through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
